Ein kleines Puppenspiel

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Friedrich Kirchner uploaded a screen capture of his puppet play “Ein kleines Puppenspiel” which he realised with Unreal Tournament and his moviesandbox. He is working now on a standalone version of moviesandbox with OpenGL so it will be cross platform, open-source and you do not need a game anymore. Sounds promising.

Unreal Engine 3 and tcplink

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

So I posted some weeks ago that I moved from Unreal Engine 3 to the Source engine from Valve but this actually never happened because I was too busy writing the thesis. And then Epic updated Unreal Tournament 3 and there was tcplink from Unreal Tournament 2004 back again. So I believe it is possible to realise the concepts now with the Unreal Engine 3 and after I finished my thesis I will hopefully have some time to get more into the practical work with UE3.

Status of my thesis

Ok. I wanted to post rough version of some chapters but it seems like I am not going to … but anyhow the thesis has to be finished soon so there will be the whole thesis to look at at some point.

The focus changed a bit during the work on the thesis (this could already be seen in my abstract posted earlier). So I am not going to publish anything practical here anytime soon but only the academic work since that is nearly the only thing I worked on. It is much about the relationship between games and stories and how I want to combine them in a new way, much about machinima and a concept of the things I hopefully will do some day. But since the future after my graduation is pretty unclear at the moment I cannot make any prediction although I would really like to find some people which would like to cooperate in the realisation of the concepts. That would be good. I will work on this next month after I finished the academic work.
